- I've just recently developed a problem with my system. When
- i'm connected to my isp, I can get data from news, web, etc. I can
- stay connected for hours if I just download stuff. The problem starts
- when I try to upload stuff thru ftp or a news server. I can send
- anywhere from 500k to 4 megs but after that, winsock seems to stop
- communicating to the modem. I can't even do a dns lookup. Okay, so
- maybe this doesn't sound too unusual...but this is the wierd part: My
- system does the same thing with trumpet winsock (latest beta). What's
- even wierder is that I can hit "disconnect" and the modem hangs up. I
- can then use it with qmodem for 95 like there's nothing wrong; I can
- upload or download as many megs as I want. After I exit qmodem and
- start winsock again (after ending it previously with a problem) I can
- log on and get my ip address, but that's it. I can't even ping my
- server. If I then "restart [windows] in ms-dos mode" The cycle
- starts from the beginning again. I'm completely baffled! I didn't
- have this problem last month. I'm trying to avoid re-installing 95.
